Introduction
We've been collecting feedback this year (2021) and we heard you: the process of determining how to organize your policy documents can be time-consuming. As part of FiscalNote's ongoing efforts to improve your experience, the Product team is thrilled to introduce the latest feature addition: Issue Suggestions!
Save time and let FiscalNote suggest how to categorize bills into your Issues!
Issue Suggestions -- What is it?
Whether working from your Discovery Alerts inbox or browsing Search Results, chances are you'll find important policy documents which require you to monitor the progression. This is done by adding the bill, for example, to an Issue:
Once a policy document is added to an Issue, you will be provided updates on progression via email:
Your Issues list is dependent upon which Issues you have created and/or have access to within your organization's configuration. This means that if you have not created any Issues, you will not see Issues in the drop-down selection menu when hovering over the [+ Issue] icon.

Issue Suggestions take into account the Issues you have already created and those you have access to. Now, whether working out of your Discovery Alerts inbox or performing research via Search, when you come across a potentially impactful policy document that requires monitoring, FiscalNote will make suggestions for the best topic match from your own list of Issues:
Issue Suggestions -- How it works
Every policy document has a topic(s) referenced in the text of some kind. Half the battle of monitoring policy documents is determining what the bills of interest actually impact. That's time consuming.
Issue Suggestions offer a way to save time and take back control of your day. They are powered by the use of machine learning; more specifically: natural language processing in addition to advanced FiscalNote topic analysis. That means that the text of each bill is analyzed to understand which of your Issues would be a "best match". When you come across a bill or regulation that requires monitoring, add it to an Issue. Now, your suggested Issues will appear at the top of the drop-down list:
Click the Issue to add the bill to it, let FiscalNote track future activity and progression for you, and confidently carry on with your day!
