Labels are a useful tool for organizing information in FiscalNote. Over time you may need to edit or otherwise manage Labels within your organization's account; perhaps you will find labels that are no longer relevant, that have changed connotation, or that other team members mistakenly entered. If you are a System Administrator, navigate to the Labels page to perform these tasks with your Labels.
Layout of the Labels page
The Labels page includes the following elements, annotated on the image below:
- Create button
- Search field
- Count of Labels present on page
- Count of Labels selected
- Delete Button
- Sorting Options
- Labels table
The Create and Search fields in the upper left of the screen allow you to make new Labels or locate existing ones. In the upper right of the screen, the counts and sorting options help you manage the display of Labels while the Delete Button eliminates Labels.
In the middle of the screen, the Labels table has two columns. On the left is the Label column, which displays the name each Label with one Label per row. On the right is the Count column, which displays the number items on which the Label is present one one Count per row. Clicking on a Count will activate the Labels Details modal.
FiscalNote will provide a scroll bar on the right side of the screen for a long list of Labels. Drag the scroll bar or move the wheel of your mouse to browse the entire list of Labels.
You may search the Labels page by keyword
- Type a keyword into the field
- Click Search
- The Labels page will filter to show any matching results
- To clear results, delete the keyword and click Search again
Labels may sorted by either Name or Count, in Ascending or Descending. For example, sorting by Name with Sort Order as Ascending will arrange the Labels in alphabetical order. For another example, sorting by Count with Sort Order as Descending will rank the Labels by the number of times they have been used, from greatest to least.
Clicking a Count for a Label will activate the Labels Detail modal. The modal breaks down the usage of the Label; you can see which types of items have the label and how often the label was applied to those items.
The information is displayed in a pie chart and in a list. Hover over the pie chart to view slice labels. Each item in the list include a count of the label in parentheses. If you applied the label to a lot of different items, FiscalNote will break the list into segments. A count of segments and pair of arrows will appear beneath the list of items. Click the arrows to navigate the list of items and track your progress through the lists as the count advances.
Download the pie chart as a PNG, JPEG, PDF, or SVG file by clicking the hamburger icon ☰ near the upper right of the Labels Details modal. Click the “x” in the upper right corner to dismiss the modal.
