Introduction
Because FiscalNote is so customizable, it’s important as a Team Lead to both (1) Document team strategies for data management to provide for easy information access by all, and (2) Subsequently, monitor what your team is actually doing with the data in the platform. Is everyone following your guidelines? Maintain a sound approach to data cleanliness to ensure accurate reporting, and give yourself confidence that any stakeholder update will be ready when necessary.
Getting Notified of Team Activity in FiscalNote
By adjusting your Account Preferences, you have the ability to stay on top of what your team members are doing in FiscalNote. Receive updates when someone on your team adds, edits, or removes the following from an Issue:

To turn on Recent Activity in your Default Preference, head to Preferences from Account Settings in the 'My Account' dock:
Hover over Default and click the pencil icon on the far right. Scroll down the preference pop-up window, select Recent Activity: All, and choose to receive either Daily or Weekly updates:
Click 'Submit' to save your changes when done.

Performing a Labels Audit
As a Team Lead (or System Administrator in FiscalNote), you also have the unique ability to review your team's Labels usage. Labels are used to classify data into sub-topics, themes, departments of impact, and more. They are entirely customizable, so it’s important to perform a Labels audit at least once a week.
Find the list of all Labels your team has used by clicking 'Labels' under Organization Settings from the 'My Account' dock:
NOTE: As a reminder, only FiscalNote users with a Systems Administrator role can access organization settings.
Check for any easy fixes such as misspellings. If you find an opportunity to clean up labels by combining misspelled words or synonyms, use the Merge Labels tool on the top right:
We recommend performing a labels audit at least 1x/week during legislative sessions, and bi-weekly when legislatures you monitor are not in session.

Encouraging Collaboration
As a Team Lead, it's important to urge your team members to collaborate in the platform to drive alignment. Encourage them to discuss legislative or regulatory trends in their respective assignments and notify colleagues of important updates or stakeholder tasks.
The Discussion Tool allows users to communicate within FiscalNote. When directing a message towards a colleague, users type the '@' character followed by the colleague's name. If notifications are turned on, the colleague is alerted to the conversation.
Instruct your team to head to 'Notifications' under Account Settings in their own account, and ensure notifications are enabled:
Choose to also receive email updates from colleagues if your messages have been unread for 15 minutes or 1 hour.
Encourage the use of the Discussion Tool and mobile/email notifications to promote cross-departmental collaboration, keeping teams aligned and accountable across all of your initiatives.
